  Resilience can be defined as the capability of a system to withstand the effects of extreme events and to recover efficiently the pre-event functionality (Bruneau et al.2003).There is an increasing interest in the quantitative evaluation of resilience associated to damage and disruption caused by sudden events such as earthquakes (Brtneau et al.2003,Cimellaro et al.2010,Bocchini & Frangopol 2012,Bocchini et al.2012,Decò et al.2013).For structural systems it is worth noting that damage could also arise progressively in time due to aging and environmental aggressiveness,which can modify over time the structural performance and functionality and,consequently,the system resilience (Titi & Biondini 2013,Biondini et al.2014).In particular,for concrete structures the exposure to aggressive agents,such as chlorides,may involve corrosion of reinforcement and deterioration of concrete,which lead over time to a loss of structural resilience.The effects of aging and deterioration are particularly relevant for bridge structures due to their environmental exposure.
