Background, Motivation and Objective Maximum velocity (MV) estimation in a Doppler Sonogram is of clinical interest as it indicates severity of stenosis. It is also used in obstetrics to calculate Doppler indices for monitoring placental function, fetal growth retardation and detecting pregnant women at risk for preeclampsia. The aim of this work is to develop an automated and robust technique for accurate maximum velocity envelope estimation which works for a broad range of SNRs.
