The observation that Brazilian Indians, not blended, do not develop breast cancer, has been the focus of an epidemiological study to identify some peculiarities in this population.Social patterns, dietary and environmental factors may explain many of the variables involved in this observation.However, analysis of blood samples revealed unique characteristics in humans that have prompted researchers to advance research in molecular biology which confirm some suspicions to explain the event.The uniformity of blood type, O+, among all individuals in Brazil, is one of the elements that drew attention in the studies.The gene super-expression of mitochondrial MnSOD anti-oxidation leads to new investigations and possible introduction of new mechanisms for the prevention of breast cancer.
