To determine trace amount of compounds of interest in a very complex sample matrix requires an efficient sample clean up procedure.Currently, liquid-liquid extraction, protein precipitation as well as solid phase extraction (SPE) are commonly used in analytical laboratories.SPE (Solid Phase Extraction) is very useful to do sample cleanup as well as sample pre-concentration for LC-MS analysis, and more accurate quantitative results can be obtained due to the elimination of matrix effect.However, traditional SPE involves tedious sample elution, evaporation, and reconstitution steps, and it is also time consuming for method development.
