  Candidatus Microthrix parvicella (M.parvicella) has been identified as one of the main filamentous bacteria causing bulking in many wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs).Although bulking in WWTPs has been studied for decades, it is one of the most concerned microbial issues as there is not a rapid and reliable method to determine WWTP with and without bulking problem.
