The number of lung cancer cases continues to increase thought the world.In spite that in USA and European Union the rate of raise is continuously slowly decreasing or stabilizing but in Asian countries it is increasing.Women seem to be more susceptible to tobacco carcinogens.They develop the disease in younger age, they smoked smaller number of cigarettes for shorter period of time, more nonsmokers are noticed among them.Different pattern of histological types of lung cancer is also observed in women.Aggregation of lung cancer and other smoking related cancers cases was observed in families of lung cancer patients, particularly among family members of women with adenocarcinoma.There are many possible genetic factors influencing higher predisposition to lung cancer in women for instance differences in the expression, gene polymorphisms and activity of phase Ⅰ (e.g.CYP1 A1) and phase Ⅱ carcinogens metabolizing enzymes (e.g.GST and NAT), expression of proliferation stimulating factors such as gastrin-releasing peptide.
