Erythromycin A is produced by Saccharopolyspora erythraea.Unlike other gene clusters of antibiotic biosynthesis, there lacks of regulatory genes in erythromycin biosynthetic cluster, hampering efforts to find regulators related to erythromycin biosynthesis and enhance erythromycin productivity via regulation engineering. In this study, a new TetR-family regulator (SACE_7301) was identified to positively control erythromycin biosynthesis in Sac.erythraea by the gene inactivation method.
