With the development of radiation therapy, it has the higher requirement on the accuracy of the radiotherapy, including the precise positing, precise planning, and the precise treatment.So, a serious of quality control (QC) tests for routine daily therapy has been developed for video based on electronic portal imaging devices (EPID),which is widely used to obtain images from the output exposure with the detector matrix.Based on the existing literature, the detector of EPID can be divided into three categories, and the study of them have been relatively mature.Nevertheless, for high LET ray accelerator (e.g., heavy ion acceleration) QC tests, FNTDs (fluorescence nuclear track detectors) proposed abroad is still an emerging field in domestic.With regard to the EPID in clinical application, this paper proposes several algorithms of the position verification and the dose verification of the EPID.Quality control tests based on the EPID is also presented, including the flatness and symmetry, the light field and radiation field consistency and accurate measurement of multi-leaf diaphragm in the filed-monitoring.Furthermore, some novel software and tools can be applied to carry out further researches, such as RIT113 or PIPS Pro to verify the rotation axis of the accelerator, accuracy of collimator and laser lights as well as the isocentricity calibration of the complete linear accelerator system, etc.In the future, it is reasonable to implement the basic algorithm or principle optimization in this field and to realize the real-time dose verification as well as storing error and feeding back automatically.The later research can be considered from these aspects.
