In this study,cellulose microwhiskers(CMWs)and nanowhiskers(CNWs)were prepared by acid hydrolysis method,both CMWs and CNWs show outstanding optic anisotropic properties which observed by polarizing microscope.We dispersed CNWs in DMF and Norland 65,then we found the CNWs can be aligned or release by apply or remove electric field,and this alignment and disalignment endow this material show electric-color response under polarizing microscope.We suppose this new discovery has potential application in sensors,displays,etc.
