A new method of the determination polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in water samples was developed by C30-bonded silica as a sorbent coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).In this experiment, 250mL sample solution with 15% acetone as the modified agent was flowed at the rate of 7mL min-1 through C30-bonded silica packed cartridge, then 8mL of ethyl acetate was used as eluent for adsorbed PAHs.The developed method was found to yield a linear calibration curve in the concentration range of 0.05-8μg L-1 with respect to NaP, Acl, Ace and 0.01-8μg L-1 for DBA and 0.05-14μg L-1 for Fle, Phe and Ant and 0.01-14μg L-1 for the rest of analytes.Furthermore, the accuracy and repeatability of the method were good by calculating from water samples spiked at 0.5ng mL-1 of PAHs, and the recovery of optimal method was satisfactory.The results showed that C30-bonded silica was an efficient sorbent for extraction of PAHs from spiked water samples.
