Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC × GC-TOF MS) is a powerful chemical analysis tool for metabolomics investigations.GC × GC-TOF MS provides a metabolite fmgerprint of exceptional quality, allowing metabolic studies of great depth and reliability. However, a considerable amount of data is obtained, ~ 300 MB per sample run.Software development to analyze this data must keep pace with the applications researchers have in mind. The appropriate chemometric "multivariate" data analysis tools should be incorporated in user-friendly software.Additionally, it is imperative to take a "discovery-based" approach. The software should perform the following two tasks.First, rapidly determine the locations in the 2D separation space that objectively distinguish the sample classes under investigation (eg., cells grown under different conditions, wild type vs.mutants, etc) without overlooking important information.Second, efficiently analyze these locations to identify and quantify the metabolites of interest.
