Microbial carbon capture cells (MCCs) are derived from the modified microbial fuel cells composing of anode and cathode chambers separated by ion exchange membrane. When the cathode chamber of MCCs is aerated with CO2,the sequestration of CO2 can convert to biomass through photosynthetic microorganisms such as microalgae.Compared with other microalgae, the family of Chlorella is considered to be one of the most promising species for the higher growth rate and CO2 fixation efficiency.
