Background:Coarctation of the aorta associated with additional cardiovascular disorders or complex coarctation in adult patients is still a formidable challenge for cardiovascular surgeons.Extra-anatomic aortic bypass allows simultaneous intracardiac repair or an alternative approach for the patient with complex coarctation. Methods:Between August 2007 and May 2011,7 patients (4 males and 3 females, mean age 30.3 ± 13.8 years) with complex aortic coarctation underwent extra-anatomic aortic bypass grafting. Before operation, average New York Heart Association class was Ⅱ,and 6 patients (85.7%) had systemic hypertension.
