According to the Copy Theory of Movement(Chomsky 1995), a lexical item and its copy can’t be phonetically realized at the same time, otherwise the derivation will crash at PF because the lexical items can’t be linearized under the Linear Correspondence Axiom(LCA)(Kayne 1994). Verb-copy constructions in Mandarin, however, apparently violate LCA because they have two and the same verbs phonetically realized. For example, (1) Zhangsan Hejiu Hezui le.
