While Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is by aetiology a pulmonary condition, several observations suggest that skeletal muscle may be an attractive opportunity for treatment, especially in more advanced disease.Thus far the only practical approach to skeletal muscle dysfunction is rehabilitation and nutritional support but this may change as more advances in muscle biology emerge.
