Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer for women in the western world.Although still lower than in western populations an extraordinary increase in BC was observed in the Inuit population of Greenland and Canada. The established breast cancer risk factors like genetic inheritance, factors contributing to lifelong exposure to active estrogens, endogenous and synthetic hormones can only explain less than a third of all cases. Some sociodemographic and lifestyle factors have also been considered as BC risk factors.
