  Biohydrogen is the cleanest fuel in the world which is considered to be a vital source of renewable energy.In this study, hydrogen production is performed in Expanded Granular Sludge Blanket Reactors with molasses as substrate.The harbinense YUAN-3 Expanded Granular Sludge Blanket Reactor (Y-EGSB)showed the highest production rate(HPR) of 4.12 mol/L, and the sludge EGSB showed the highest HPR of 2.87 mol/L.The H2yield of Y-EGSB was 1.47 mol H2/mol glucose, and the H2 yield of S-EGSB reached 1.05 mol H2/mol glucose.The specific HPR of Y-EGSB reached 78.6 mmol H2/g VSS day, 70.3% higher than S-EGSB, indicating that the inoculation of harbinense YUAN-3 had positive effect on EGSB hydrogen-producing reactor.
