The global financial crisis has brought about recession and high unemployment to developed countries, including the United States and the major member states of the European Union.Consequently, the aggregate demand of these countries has been seriously weakened. As a major trade partner of these countries, the export performance of China has also been seriously affected. In 2009,for example, the total export volume of China has reduced by 16% to USD1202 billion while the volume of imports has also contracted by 11% to USD1006 billion. The trade surplus, meanwhile, has declined by 34% from USD 298 billion in 2008 to USD 196 billion in 2009.
