The feasibility of employing a mesoporous natural superfine down particle (NSDP) for the removal of acid brilliant scarlet 3R,direct fast scarlet 4BS and vat scarlet R from its aqueous solution was investigated.The adsorbent was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM),N2 adsorption and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum,which revealed the abundance of pores and functional groups (carboxyl,hydroxyl and amine-groups) present in NSDP.The adsorption behavior of NSDP for three dyes was investigated as a function of pH.The results show that the adsorption capacity of NSDP was strongly pH-dependent.The maximum absorption capacity of the different dyes onto NSDP was 108.84,87.06,67.51mg/g at pH 3,respectively.Based on the results,NSDP can be used as an efficient and economic adsorbent to remove the dyes in the textile effluent.
