Background: Throughout the last 20 years the use of alternative treatment has increased characteristically in the western part of the world.In Denmark the part of the population who has used alternative treatment has increased from 23 ％ in 1987 to 45 ％ in 2005.The use of alternative treatment is increasing in the Danish hospital sector,but few studies have been conducted investigating the use of alternative treatment within the field of rehabilitation.The purpose of this study has been to investigate the use of alternative treatment at Danish rehabilitation institutions and drug centers.
