Diamond has the highest surface acoustic wave (SAW) velocity among all materials.It can also provide high breakdown voltage,radiation hardness and high thermal conductivity.These properties make diamond a promising material for fabrication of high power,high frequency and high temperature solid-state microelectronic devices.But diamond is not piezoelectric; we make it a suitable substrate for SAW devices when coupled with piezoelectric thin films such as Aluminum Nitride (AlN).
