Aim To explore the effects of PE on the chemical and drug-induced liver injury in mice and the gastrocnemius damage in rat.Method The models which mentioned above were gavaged with PE to investigate the effect of Pedunculoside (PE) on mice.We have detected the serum levels of AST, ALT in mice and the contents of CK, MB inrat, and calculated the liver coefficient and observed the pathological changes of liver tissue in mice with hepatotoxicity.Results Compared with the control group, the serum lever of AST and ALT in mice with liver injury induced by CCl4 increased significantly (P<0.001).The serum lever of AST and ATL in mice with liver injury induced by INH-RFP increased significantly in comparison with the control group (P<0.01).The contents of CK and MB in rat with gastrocnemius injury significantly increased (P<0.001) in comparison with the control group.The results showed that PE could reduce the level of AST and ATL in mice with liver injury, as well as the contents of CK and MB in rat of gastrocnemius injury.Moreover, PE effectively improved the degeneration of liver cell, and reversed the inflammatory cells infiltration, which contributed to the improvement of hepatic pathological morphology in mice with hepatotoxicity.Additionally, PE coild improve both myofibril fragmentation and interstitial muscle swelling.Meanwhile, PE could reduce the inflammatory cells infiltration in rat.Conclusion PE has protective effect on chemical or drug-induced liver injury in mice and gastrocnemius damage in rat.In addition, PE could reverse the damage accelerated by Sim.
