This paper presents a study on the bond characteristic of fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) bonded on concrete in Australia. The study includes a state-of-the-art review,an assessment of previous studies,an experimental program,a nonlinear finite element modelling study and the development of a prediction model. The assessment includes validation of existing models using a database of existing test data.By comparison with the actual failure loads, the models which can predict the failure loads reasonably well were identified. The experimental program included twenty-six single shear-lap tests which were designed to investigate the effect of FRP bond lengths,FRP thicknesses and widths on the bond behaviour.
