Increasing number of researches have revealed the protective roles of autophagy in modulating neurodegenerative diseases through accelerating the clearance of aggregate-prone or mutant proteins in cells.In this study, we therefore set out to identify novel autophagy inducers from 150 different kinds of Chinese medicinal herbs, which may serve as an important source for the identification of novel neuroprotective agent through enhancing the clearance of mutant proteins by autophagy.
