Nanoparticles in the form of cylinder are widely useful in integrated photonics,nano-motors and nano-imaging.We investigate the manipulating and trapping of a nano-eylinder by optical tweezers. As the particle is not spherical we did not use the classical concept of scattering force and gradient force, but computed the radiation stress distribution on the nanoparticle surface to obtain the total force and torque and the trap force potential and stiffness related to the trap performance.
