Although cetaceans(whales,porpoises,and dolphins)have multichambered stomachs,moderncetaceans feeding habits had dramatic changed from herbivorous to carnivorous.However,the genetic basisunderlying the dietary switch occurred in cetaceans remains poorly explored.The present study therefore presents the firstsystematic investigation of tendigestive enzymes genes(CYP7A1,CTRC,LIPC,LIPF,PNLIP,PGC,PRSS1,SI,SLC5A1,and TMPRSS15)of representative cetaceans and theevolutionary trajectory ofRNASE1inCetartiodactyla.
