The second-generation of high temperature superconducting wires or coated conductors (CCs),based on YBCO thin film technology, are confronted with a commercialization process. The performance of critical current density (Jc) of YBCO CCs under magnetic field has been a considerable limitation for its commercial application, and many efforts have been made to improve the challenging situation.Till now several routes have been verified successfully to enhance the Jc,and the priority is to enhance the flux pinning properties of CCs.Among such efforts, elements addition into the CCs is regarded as a convenient and effective method.
