Background: The grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) with a long breeding history is one of the most economical herbivorous freshwater fish species,which is widely distributed in Asia.Despite their excellent growth traits and large-scale breeding mode,grass carp is susceptible to various diseases.Outbreaks of diseases in this species associated with bacteria pathogens,such as Aeromonas hydrophila,have induced high mortality,resulting in declining production and tremendous economic losses,which severely restrict the development prospect of grass carp farming industry.
