The present study aims to develop the role of Human Resource Management(ΗRM)during a period of pandemic,highlighting and showing the contribution of teleworking-telecommuting,online-remote working as a new working reality and new challenge.The present global situation of the Covid-19 pandemic drives the world of work in unknown paths.In turn,this links to the transformation of organizations to a more technology-based activity.The importance of technology with the use of Human Resource Information Systems(HRIS)is supported as shown by its contribution into the HRM functions and the implementation of advanced HR technology tools.Throughout the literature review,the implications of the pandemic to the workplace have been analyzed through the development of HRIS and teleworking,remote – online communicating in offering an extraordinary working field in the future,while the concept of leadership in crisis period is presented as another solution.Changes caused by the new coronavirus COVID-19 have unprecedented implications on companies around the globe and influenced human resource management deeply.HRM took leadership to navigate in the vague present and unforeseeable future by managing people to cope with stress and to continue working remotely so that business goes on with its operations.HRM had to deal with the dismissals and reduction of the staff caused by the pandemic lockdown.The present paper it discusses the challenges HRM has been facing duping pandemic,ascertains the implications the crisis has on human resources,finds out the solutions companies applied,and makes suggestions for tackling the crisis from the point of view of HRM.Findings indicate that companies,together with the HR managers,should develop crisis management plans,elaborate new policies for remote as well as hybrid working systems as a response to the current and future crises.
