土壤的氧化还原性质对土壤的许多其它性质具有直接的或间接的影响.近年来,随着环境污染的加剧和生态环境的恶化,土壤的氧化还原性质越来越受到人们的重视.在土壤中,由于微生物的活动,不断产生各种有机还原性物质.有机还原性物质是土壤中主要的电子提供者,这些物质的性质和数量是决定土壤氧化还原性质的主要因素.铁锰氧化物是土壤中的主要电子接受体,其还原产物可以影响土壤的一系列物理化学性质,而且其数量过多将对生物产生毒害.因此,有机还原性物质与铁锰氧化物间的电化学反应是土壤氧化还原性质研究的中心问题.
