Past research on the causes and impacts of male school dropout is inconclusive.In explaining their findings,researchers have focused on the factors that give rise to this phenomenon and its impacts,but no clear light have been directed to solutions to remedy this situation.Dropping out of educational system is a serious individual,familial,educational and social problem.This is a very complex phenomenon influenced by a large number of factors.Dropout rates in Cameroon are still very high and this calls for the need to tackle this situation diligently by bringing out suggestions and solutions to remedy this situation from far evolving.One way to improve the educational system and ensure equal education for every child is to reduce dropout rates in primary schools.As a large study,the main goal of this research was to investigate the factors that influenced the increase in male primary school dropout in the BiyemAssi District.It also sought to find its impact to socioeconomic development of the community and therefore come up with some factors that might reduce the rampant increase of male primary school dropout.The rationale of this study is the researchers’ believes on the idea that keeping boys in school means more peace,thus community development.In order to achieve our results,six primary schools with high rate of school dropout in the Biyem-Assi District were selected and examined.Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used in data collection,these included group interviews,drafted questionnaires,observations,field notes and documents.Following our research findings and collection of data analysis,it was very glaring that many factors contributed to the increase in male students dropout in the Biyem-Assi district which included factors connected to teachers,parents,droppers,the government and society as a whole.As a result this resulted to negative impacts in the community such as increase in crime waves,drug trafficking,lack of security and a hindrance in economic development of the society.Therefore,this research encourages adult education programmes and campaigns which will raise the awareness of the people in the communities on the need of education for their children.Moreover,the District council should also endeavor to lay out strategies for boys’ care as it is currently doing for girls and improve educational facilities and school environment.Also guardians and parents should take full responsibility to care and provide for the family and not push it on the male children to handle because they have school work to concentrate on.
