The main aim of this study was to explore the study of determinants of FDI inflow to Pakistan. For empirical analysis, this paper utilizes time series techniques. For this purpose, this study utilizes the Vector Error Correction Model(VECM)and Granger causality test.In addition,ADF test is used to check the stationary/ non-stationary.The period for this study is from 1970 to 2015.The secondary data is acquired from World Development Indicators,Federal Bureau of Statistics and World Governance Indicators. The results of ADF test shows that at a level all variables are stationary except GDP and the remaining variables became stationary at first difference. The finding of this empirical analysis reveals that the major determinants of FDI inflow in Pakistan are export, exchange rate, infrastructure, external debt, and imports. Also, trade openness and political stability exhibited positive but insignificant influence on FDI.The findings have revealed the presence of a long-run equilibrium relationship between FDI and GDP.However,FDI has a positive and significant effect on GDP while GDP has a positive and insignificant effect on FDI.Therefore, the outcome of this study recommends that;government should make sure stable macroeconomic policies, increases exports, reduction in external debt and reduction in imports to accelerate the development and growth in Pakistan.
