The language is the cornerstone of culture , reflecting the culture of a nation .Among them ,the proverb is the product of long-term development of national language and is also a summary of the long-life experience and wisdom .Japan ,an island nation surrounded by the sea ,is rich in seafood .Japanese has a special feeling and the proverbs about fish is also very rich .National character is the views and opinions that people show about social phenomena and action .As a national reference of mental state , from one aspect , to a certain extent ,it can reflects the national character of this nation .Through the unique fish proverb , you can see the national characteristics of Japanese national character , which will play a role in more profound understanding of Japanese and Japanese culture .The structure of this thesis is as follows : including the introduction , this thesis is divided into five parts . The part of introdution mainly described the motive of the topic of thesis , purpose and significance of study , prior studies and the new perspectives and difficulties of the thesis . The first chapter focuses on the definition and the role of proverbs . The second chapter classifies the collected fish proverbs , mainly from language sources , form and content aspects , to do researches into characteristics of the Japanese proverb about the fish . It examines the form mainly from the classical form , thythm , ellipsis and metaphers . Corresponding with the second chapter ,Chapter III studing the national character of the Japanese , such as the integration , modeling and heart to heart . Chapter IV explores the ocean based on the national character of Japanese , this part is based on the foregoing analysis, mainly introduces the Japanese maritime causes . In the international environment , in order to more fully understand the Japanese people to explore the Japanese national character is necessary .
