By reviewing the foundations of European and Chinese respective security and development policy and strategies in the Sudans, this thesis highlights the convergence, divergence and complementarities of both actors approaches. In doing so, it underscores the reasons of potential competition between the E.U.and the P.R.C. while unveiling areas of prospective cooperation amidst them. Through such an analysis, this thesis offers new perspectives on the promise and potential positive outcomes of a comprehensive partnership between the E.U.and the P.R.C.on security and development issues in the Sudans——and Africa more generally.
