《蓝色的海豚岛》通过描写三个儿童的不同行为,展现了儿童伦理发展三个阶段的主要特征。伦理混沌阶段的拉莫没有伦理意识,需要进行伦理启蒙;伦理启蒙阶段的卡拉娜在受到故事和道德榜样的教育后,初步拥有伦理意识和家庭责任意识,会做符合社会规范的选择,但死守规则,需培养具体情况具体分析的能力;伦理选择阶段的乌拉帕,拥有伦理意识及强烈的家庭和社会责任感,能进行伦理选择和理性推理,却易受外在诱惑,应学会理性抵制诱惑。作品刻画三个儿童形象,利于读者厘清儿童伦理发展各阶段特征及教育对策;也是在隐喻儿童和人类伦理发展是一个阶段性、连续性、重叠性且螺旋式上升的历时性进程,具有较高的现实启示意义。
