What is the link between the Comintern and the Red Army’s decision on the Long March? Are there any simple responses to the essay? These questions have not been fully answered before. According to the declassified documents such as the Communist International Archives, this article restates the true role of the Comintern during the brewing of the Long March of the Red Army and its decision-making process. The protagonists of the Long March are generally considered to be Li Tak, or proposed by Li Teh, and decided upon by the meeting of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee. However, the Long March was, in fact, first put forth by Li De’s chief boss, Stern (alias Fred), the commander-in-chief of the Communist International in the Chinese Communist Party. On November 27, 1933, Fred made the Central Red Army known as “Hunan Plan.”
