Objective To determine the expression of serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and β2 microglobulin (β2MG) in patients with acute leukemia (AL) and to explore its relationship with the efficacy and prognosis of AL. Methods The changes of serum LDH and β2MG levels in normal subjects, untreated and untreated patients were retrospectively analyzed. Results The serum levels of LDH and β2MG in the newly diagnosed and untreated groups were significantly higher than those in the normal control group and the complete remission (CR) group. There was no significant difference between the untreated group and the untreated group. Patients with elevated serum levels of LDH and β2MG had lower complete remission rates and shorter survival than either or both patients. Conclusion Serum LDH and β2MG reflect the tumor burden in patients with AL. The joint detection is of great significance in judging the curative effect and prognosis of AL patients.
