不少教师在谈及自己的职业时,习惯性地将自己戏称为“教书匠”。粗听之,这种说法并无多大的不妥。然而细加推敲,这句话却包含着两个明显的错误:第一,从教育目的来看,我们的宗旨不仅仅在于教书,教书只不过是一种手段,其终极目标却是育人;第二,从教育内容来看,我们也并不仅仅用书来教育学生。自然,书虽然是我们教育教学过程中不可或缺的媒介,而教育者自身的人格力量、表率作用却常常会在育人过程中产生一种潜移默化的作用,悄无声息地感染着受教育者的心灵,塑造着受教育者的灵魂。古人所谓的“言传身教”中的“身教”二字,所体现出的正是施教者在教书之外的一种潜在的力量。
