长期以来,我国甜菜种植一直是广种薄收,缺乏科学管理,致使甜菜亩产老徘徊在一吨左右。近几年甜菜含糖分又普遍下降,严重影响制糖经济效益,根据实际统计1979年甜菜含糖分16.5％,以后下降到14.5—15％。因糖分下降近五年少产甜菜糖约50万吨,损失约6亿余元,甜菜含糖每下降一度,每吨糖要增加成本80元,要减少收入100元,现在每吨食糖的甜菜成本已达85—90％,大部分中、小厂亏损,大厂积累水平下降,每吨食糖的积累已下降到100—150元,建一个新厂要15—20年才能偿还货款,这是甜菜制糖工业面临发展还是衰败下去的大问题。
