毛主席提出的教育新方針,标志着我国社会主义教育事业上一个新的跃进。我們全体教育工作者,都应当很好地研究和貫彻这一方针。有些教师同志对于中小学毕业生参加生产劳动感到“屈才”,感到“可惜”,认为这样就中断了学生的学习前途。这种错誤的看法,对于贯彻教育新方針,是一个很大的障碍。一个学生有沒有前途,最重要的是看他走的是什么道路。学习能不能有成就,首先决定于他的学习目的是否正确。旧中国知識分子的学习,大多是为着求名求利,甚至只是为着混资格作官。他們把做学問当作敲门磚,門敲开了,得到一些名利,
The new education policy put forward by Chairman Mao marked a new leap forward in China’s socialist education. All of our educators should study and implement this principle very well. Some teachers’ comrades feel that they are “pityful” to the participation of graduates of primary and secondary schools in production and labor. They think that this disrupts students’ learning future. This erroneous view is a great obstacle to the implementation of the new education policy. A student has no future. The most important thing is to see what path he takes. Whether learning can achieve success depends on whether or not his learning objectives are correct. Most of the learning of the old Chinese intellectuals was for the sake of seeking name and profit, or even just for the qualifications of officials. They took learning as a stepping stone and knocked on the door to get some fame.
