In order to determine the effect of the timing and frequency of weeding on the yield of peanut Ashford fruit, trials were conducted at the Kassala Agricultural Research Station in 1964 and 1965. Naturally occurring annual weeds, mainly Ipomoea cordofana and Rhymchosia memnonia, reduce peanut fruit production by 80% on average. The test results showed that the peanut must be weeded at least once within 30 days after sowing. After weeding 30 days and 60 days weeding area twice, the yield of fruit from the non-weeding area 131.5 kg / mu, to 625.3 kg / mu. Weeding three times, 15 days, 30 days and 45 days after sowing, weeding less than 30 and 60 days after sowing, because weeding interval is too short. The effectiveness of weeding on 30 days and 60 days after sowing is sufficient. The number of fruit per plant is the most important factor in determining yield. The yield was 15-20 pods per plant and the 20 flowers produced earlier and the fruit yield was higher. Weeds reduce the number of branches per plant, thus reducing the number of fruit per plant. Thousand grain weight, kernel rate and harvest index are also affected by weeds. Wild morning glory is the weakest weed because it appears almost simultaneously with the peanut, and its seeds continue to germinate throughout the growing season.
