In India, patients are often given one dose of tetanus toxoid (TT) before surgery, but two doses of TT (5Lf, at least 6 weeks apart) are required to achieve a satisfactory level of protection. This study investigated the level of serum antitoxin in patients who received a single dose of TT (5Lf) before surgery. The subjects were 158 patients waiting for surgery, asked before the test history and immunization history. On the day of surgery (5 to 13 days after injection of TT), blood and hemagglutination tests were performed to measure antibody titers and double-sample tests were conducted to ensure quality control.
