This essay treats autobiography as a series of contemporary institutional practices consisting of various types of courses, conferences, periodicals, websites, reviews and books. These behaviors enrich the autobiographical reading and research methods. The authors note that the current study of autobiography devotes itself to encompassing as many social connotations and formal elements as possible, a practice that seems to contradict the research methodology that focuses on the aesthetic value of texts. In fact, there is still a very influential view in the research of contemporary autobiography that the aesthetic elements of autobiography are exclusive and even predominant. At the same time, the aesthetic judgment of autobiography is carried out in the above series of practices. In many cases, researchers still use a broad term such as “good” or “potent” to evaluate an autobiography, and it seems that there is no mature language that can be used to express such aesthetic values Intuitive judgment. The purpose of this article is to examine whether there is a unique aesthetic value language associated with autobiography.
