不久前,巴基斯坦生物学家发表了一个引人注意的新观点:体内的水失去平衡是导致机体衰老的主要原因。这位生物学家认为,水是各种营养物质传递的媒介,可是体内又会在新陈代谢的过程中产生一种失水代谢物。假如这种失水代谢物在体内积累,就会阻碍体内液体的流动,使新陈代谢不能正常进行,于是衰老就此开始。因此,人要长寿就得使体内的水平衡一直处于最佳状态;延缓了失水代谢的积累,也就是延缓了衰老。要解决这个问题,办法之一就是适当多喝水。曾经两度荣获诺贝尔奖的科学家莱纳维·鲍林,就竭力提倡一种“提高健康水平的摄生法”,其中就有“每天多喝水”这一点。
