Each year, more and more international students choose the United Kingdom as the destination to further their education. Investigating their learning experience abroad, particularly their identity as L2 users and learners in learning communities, could provide insights for classroom learning and teaching practice. Taking a qualitative approach and based on ethnographic data, this research looks into the complex identity construction and shifts of English the as Second Language students in classrooms where English language is used as the medium of instruction. L2 learner identity is a relatively wel-researched area. However, with a special focus on the influence of Native Speakers of English students as participants in the classroom, this smal-scale research could present a new angle on developing a deeper understanding on L2 users and learners identity. Relevant implications are also discussed in the research.
