Imaginative intercontinental exposure hypothesis is the further development and perfection of the traditional theory of intergroup contact. The imaginary intergroup contact hypothesis adopts the experimental method to carry out research. It is believed that the psychological relationship between the imaginary intergroup contact and the external group members can also be improved. The results show that: the imagination of contact can promote interpersonal tolerance, can stimulate the willingness to contact with outside groups and other positive group psychology. The theory makes up for the lack of traditional theory of group contacts. The effects of imagination and interpersonal communication are produced through emotional mechanisms and cognitive mechanisms. The factors that influence the effects of exposure come from the characteristics and experience of imagination tasks and perceivers themselves. The integration of traditional theory of intergroup contact and imagination of contact and its transformation into concrete social interventions are the important directions for future research in this field.
