Gérard Genette, the contemporary famous French literary critic and structural theorist, raised the definition of “focalization” in theory of criticism in his book Narrative Discourse. According to narrator’s view angles, he divided it into three types: zero focalization(Omniscient focalization), internal focalization and external focalization. Genette’s theory of focalizations has been widely applied in today’s analysis of novel texts. Comparatively, zero focalization is most often and widely used.D. H. Lawrence, a prolific novelist with diverse works revealing inner activities of protagonists, a good many his works are called psychological novels. And he is good at using unique narrative method, double views of points to serve for his works. The article is to analyze the narrative strategy of Lawrence’s short novel The Princess.
