When I was a student, it was hard to remember the class of antiarrhythmic drugs because they had dozens of them. Amiodarone is not only long-lasting in 30 years of use, but is still being introduced as a new mechanism for the application of new features and functions. In Europe and the United States, amiodarone accounted for 1/3 of anti-arrhythmic drug prescriptions, while Latin American countries actually as high as 70%.
