几滚针、几拨子、几剪刀、几梳子,各色面团在手掌间揉、搓、拈、压、拍,只需要5分钟的时间,一个有着七彩羽毛、扭头逗趣的鹦鹉已活灵活现地飞上了精巧别致的铁丝框上。这种曾经能在大街小巷见到的面塑艺术,如今却大多只存在于人们的童年记忆中。面塑,俗称捏面人儿,这一民间艺术已根植于我国约两千年,它已经成为研究历史、考古、民俗、雕塑和美学所不可忽视的实物资料。面塑也分南北派别,黄河流域的面塑外形粗犷豪放,风格古朴深厚,且多制成精美糕点于重要节气食用。而在长江流域,面塑则呈现出精致、小巧、优美的特点,大部分作为观赏把玩的工艺品。
