Victor Hugo (1802-1805) is an outstanding representative of French romance that the Chinese people are familiar with. In the history of French literature, Hugo was first and foremost a poet, and his long life spanning almost the entire 19th century always remained with the poem and god. He wrote a total of more than ten million lines of poetry throughout his life, published 19 poems. The content of poetry is very extensive, including family affairs. Chinese readers and academics are more familiar with Hugo as a novelist, while Hugo, who is a poet, is relatively unknown and neglected. In order to make up for this problem, this article intends to make a superficial analysis of Hugo’s social lyric poems in order to learn from the older scholars.
